My husband agreed with the landlord for a lease extension on our flat based in Splott, 12k for another 90yrs. What's your legal fee ?
We have seen a house for sale for £195k and we are very interested but we've just discovered that it is leasehold. There are 798 years unexpired so a lease extension is not required. We didn't know what this meant but the internet suggests we wouldn't own the land or property, just the lease to live there. Is this correct? We wouldn't want to pay a mortgage for twenty years without the house being ours. Any guidance would be much appreciated.

I am thinking about whether to purchase the freehold or a lease extension of my property in Splott and have been in touch with the freeholder, have had quote for around £2500 to extend the lease. I will be doing a refinance with Virgin Money to release of equity. My broker handling the remortgage suggested I get two quotes : one for the lease extension and one for the freehold purchase .The lease commenced in 1979 and since then the ground rent has increased from £15.00 per annum to £125 per year.
What will I need to spend and what is the best way to get a lease extension started? I have around 77 years remaining on my lease on a maisonette in Splott. I have called the managing agents who act on behalf of the head landlord and they provided me with the number for the valuer. I have contacted the valuer but I am not getting any returned calls.
My wife and I are considering buying a garden flat in Splott which is a leasehold. I am wanting to weigh up the pros and cons of that - what happens when lease ends, how much it costs to extend it, can the freeholder of the property evict me from my own flat and block me from having a lease extension?
Me and my OH have owned a leasehold flat for approximately eighteen years. It now has seventy years outstanding on the lease. Following a year of difficult negotiations through my and, mainly, surveyor I now have an offer from the freeholder. I now have to make a decision as to whether to accept it or go to LVT and would appreciate advice.
We currently own a ground floor flat in Splott and are looking to sell it this year so we can carry out some improvements on our family home. I checked the lease and it has sixety nine years left. Not sure what to do, have read some bits on the web saying it will be 13k plus to get a lease extension. Can you offer some advice on this? Do I contact the freeholder first and will they be able to give me a cost?
