We would like to extend our lease. We will have been in the flat for 2 years as of 11th March 2015. It has nearly 72 years remaining currently. Hoping to get a lease extension by way of an additional 90 years as expeditiously and stress free as is reasonably achievable.
My (separately handling my lease extension) said I need a licence to alter given that I wish to carry out a loft extension to my property. Is this strictly required given that I have a share of the freehold. I've informally discussed the loft conversion with my co-freeholder some time ago and he had no objection once I reassured him that if my builder damages the roof I won't expect the co-freeholder to pay for future repairs to the roof. Assuming I need formal consent should I get the licence to alter and then start the lease extension process?
I am the freeholder of a 1930’s property split into two apartments. I live in the top floor flat and my neighbour in the lower flat. My neighbour has approached me for a lease extension from the current 54 years. What are my next steps?

I'm intent on purchasing a flat in Mickleover at a price of £256,000 the flat has approaching 59 years unexpired on the lease. I put in an offer subject to the lease being extended... .. that was back in September, hoping I'd have moved in by Christmas. The seller has just come back saying they'll knock £3k off if I deal with the lease extension myself. I'm unsure if I should take them up on the offer
We are acquiring a one bedroom apartment in Mickleover which has share of freehold and a leasehold. The lease was starting to get low so the owner commenced extending the lease. The seller has submitted the lease extension paperwork to HMLR. A crucial aspect of the house buying process is for our to do a "priority search" on the lease. The concern here is that as a lease extension has been submitted we've been told by our it may not be possible to do this "priority search" right now as the new lease title number has not been issued. Is it correct that we have to hold on until the new lease is registered?
