I have been in touch with my freeholder for a lease extension for my flat in Liverpool. Her lawyers has been in contact with charges etc. I need a quote for dealing with the legalities to secure a lease extension. The property currently has a 99 YR lease which started March 199.
I will soon view a one bedroom maisonette, although not exactly my ideal property it has enough positives to suit me very well for my present situation. However after obtaining a copy of the title I've learnt that it only has sixety two years unexpired on the lease. It is also a repo so I'm assuming that the lender will not be interested in extending the lease. My main concern is would it be difficult to sell on without a lease extension?
We would like to extend our lease. We will have been in the apartment for 2 years as of 6th Jan 2016. It has about seventy two years remaining currently. Hoping to get a lease extension with a further 90 years as quickly and stress free as possible.

If somebody owns a flat with a lease of less than 80 years, they can afford the lease extension by borrowing the funds against the property, and the value of the flat with the new lease will more than cover the cost of the extension, then is there any justification for not extending the lease?
We are purchasing a garden flat in Liverpool which has share of freehold and a leasehold. The lease was starting to get low so the vendor commenced dealing with a lease extension. The seller’s lawyer has submitted the lease extension paperwork which will result in the registration of a new lease at the land registry. A crucial aspect of the conveyancing process is for our conveyancers to do a "priority search" on the lease. The concern here is that as a lease extension has been submitted we've been told by our solicitors it may not be possible to do this "priority search" right now as the new lease title number is not known. Is it right that we must be patient until the new lease is registered?
