We had entered into buying a maisonette in Emerson Park. I was told that the lease had been extended (76 years remaining prior to extension). The sales particulars said "sold with a long lease". It turns out at the point of exchange of contracts we find that the lease has not been extended. The vendor apparently has a quote but no funds to extend as a result the seller intends to exchange and use the my deposit to extend the lease. My question is is it not odd that my solicitors didn't pick this up far earlier than just before exchange?
