We would like to extend our lease. We will have been in the property for two years as of 1st May 2015. It has slightly less than 77 years remaining currently. Hoping to get a lease extension with a further 90 years as quickly and stress free as is reasonably achievable.

Me and my OH are in the throws of buying a flat (a three bedroom ground floor purpose built maisonette located inBrackley with share of freehold). Throughout our search, we were always looking at flats that had a minimum 83 years residual lease term. We came across a place we fell in love with and the estate agent assured that the lease term was not an issue. Today our conveyancers advised us the lease only has 57 years and therefore needs a lease extension. Do we walk away, or should we negotiate our offer?
I am the freeholder of a property in Brackley and a leaseholder has requested a lease extension. Her valuer has suggested a figure of £8,000, but has increased this by £2,000 without too much effort. My surveyor has come back with £12,520. She does not appear to wish to negotiate wanting to go to a FTT. If a lease extension does go to a FTT, can I deal with this myself, just armed with the valuations I have? If not, what costs would I be likely to face?
