My brother and I had entered into buying a studio flat in Bournville. I was advised by the EA that the lease extension had already been completed while on a viewing (seventy six years unexpired lease prior to extension). I'm looking at buying an apartment in Bournville valued at £195,000 the flat has just under 62 years remaining on the lease. I put in an offer subject to the lease being renewed... .. that was back in June, expecting I'd have moved in before Christmas. We currently own a studio flat in Bournville and are looking to sell it this year so we can carry out some improvements on our family home. I checked the lease and it has sixety eight years left. Not sure what to do, have read some bits on the web saying it will be 13k plus to get a lease extension. Do you have some advice on this? Do I contact the freeholder first and will they be able to give me a cost?
I have a lease of 62 years remaining on my flat in Bournville. We are looking for a lease extension, so we contacted our freehold company and they came back with a quote that was double the amount and half the extension time that the lease extension calculator provided. Is there anyway, without racking up a huge legal bill, we can ask the freehold company to provide their computation of the amount and how they derived to it?
